Ecumenical Lenten Carbon Fast

Beginning Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent until April 8, you can join thousands of other committed earth stewards and get a daily e-mail with a message that suggests a carbon-reducing activity at www.macucc.org OR for those who do not have internet, tips will be published weekly in our bulletin. Please consider joining this fast to help reduce our carbon footprint


TICKETS ON SALE NOW

FOR Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner held on Saturday, February 25th at Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church on Sangree Rd. Dinner time is from 3:30 to 7:30. Cost is $6.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Children (10 and under). Lots of yummy desserts and Chinese Auction. See Alex Knochel for tickets or you can purchase at the door. Take outs available.


FASTNACHT/MARDI GRAS

will be celebrated this Tuesday, February 21st.
SOUP & INSPIRATION begins February 29th at 6:30 p.m. We need two different soups each week – and are asking people to volunteer to make soup. If you are willing, please sign-up on sheets provided.

On Tuesday, February 21st, at Kearns Spirituality Center (9000 Babcock Blvd), price $30 which includes breakfast and presentation by guest speaker Anne Kertz Kernion, owner of an international greeting card company (Cards by Anne) that specializes in messages that speak to the heart and soul. 30 HOUR FAMINE COOK-OUT in MARCH “ELIMINATE HUNGER”:

This year as every year, our Youth will be supporting World Vision’s 30 Hr Famine. In support of this, the Youth will be sponsoring a lunch time Cook-out on Sunday March 11th directly after church. The menu is Burgers, Hot Dogs, Macaroni & Cheese, some type of salad, dessert and drinks. The cost is $5.00 per person and $3.00 for children under 10. All proceeds of the cook-out will go to the 30 Hour Famine collections. So come and join up to eliminate your hunger for lunch and help us fight hunger for starving children all over the world. Please let Gary or Barb know if you will be joining us and a count of how many will be attending so we can plan for an appropriate amount of burgers and dogs. Hope to see you all there.

BETHLEHEM HAVEN

This quarter your donation of toiletries will be for the women at Bethlehem Haven. Items of need are: Kleenex, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, alcohol free mouthwash, deodorant, sanitary napkins & tampons, disposable razors, Q-tips, trial sizes are preferred, if possible.


2012 ELECTION GUIDELINES FOR PRAYER

Even though our next national election will not take place until Tuesday, November 6, 2012, the time to begin to pray over this process is now. Will we continue to move in our current direction or ? The decision rests in the hands of the voters, but isn’t it time we ask for God’s will. A copy of the Prayer Guidelines is available in the narthex


MATTRESS SALE

Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company located at 309 Davis Ave in Shaler Township is sponsoring a Mattress sale on Saturday/Sunday, February 11/12 from 10am to 5pm each day. Mattresses from Tempurpedic and Serta will be on sale for the lowest possible prices. Proceeds benefit the Fire Company.

It is not too late; you can still make a donation to BACK BAY MISSION, a community ministry of the UCC serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast by faithful witness and compassion for over 89 years.

If you would like to reserve or pay for your cookbook now, order forms can be found on the bookcase in the SS room or in the narthex. Please fill out and (if prepaying include cash/check) give to Susan Anderson, Dee Moser or put in the offering plate.


WE WANT YOUR OLD CELLPHONES!

Donate your old cell phone in one of the collection boxes in either the narthex or on the bookcase in the large SS room. The cell phones will be programmed for 911 services and given to senior citizens
